Are You Sure You Want To Work From Home?
Many people often dream about working from home. They picture it as a luxurious life of doing what you want and when you want. However, it is not what it seems. The fact is working from home can add many more stresses to your life.
The one issue that really gets to me is that I sometimes get too caught up in what I’m doing. It almost becomes an obsession to succeed. To prove to myself that I can make a living and be successful as a freelance writer becomes one the most important thing. Everyone needs to learn to take a break and cut themselves some slack. This includes a freelance writer.
Generally, I spend about two to three hours a day perusing writing jobs. I also spend about an hour or so trying to get my website out there in the online world. I do this by posting to different forums and I always make sure to include my website in my postings.
After all the marketing and researching new jobs is done, I then sit down to write. I may write only two in-depth articles that day or I may send off ten to twelve quick articles for web content. It all depends upon the research involved, but I usually spend between four and six hours a day actually writing.
In the middle of all of this, I am answering phone calls (mostly from my daughter), running errands, and taking care of the animals. My day usually starts by 9am and ends about midnight.
The thought behind this is to make sure you really have the drive and motivation before you decide to work from home. It’s not easy. Interruptions happen at least ten times an hour and you have must have the ability to ignore certain things-like the dishes piling up in the sink or the load of laundry that must be done. Just remember, it will be waiting for you when you are done working!
